RV Pads in West Jordan & the Salt Lake Valley

An RV pad is not a thicker driveway. The load is concentrated on four jack points, and that changes the entire spec.

West Jordan, Herriman, and Riverton are full of driveways with a boat, a trailer, or a fifth wheel parked on gravel beside the house — sinking a little more every spring. A proper concrete pad solves that permanently, keeps the rig level for the slide-outs, and gets it off the lawn before the HOA notices.

The engineering difference is real. A motorhome's weight doesn't spread across the slab like a car's does — it lands on four leveling jacks with a few square inches of contact each. That's a point load, and a 4" driveway slab will punch through under it.

RV Pad Spec

What we build, and why each line is there:

  • 6" minimum thickness — 8" where a Class A with hydraulic jacks will sit
  • 6-8" of compacted road base, moisture-conditioned and tested with a plate compactor in lifts, not dumped and driven over
  • #4 rebar on 18" centers, both directions, on chairs
  • 4,000+ PSI air-entrained mix
  • Thickened edge at the perimeter — edges carry the jack loads on most layouts
  • Slope for drainage away from the house and off the pad, so meltwater doesn't sit under the rig
  • Optional pre-pour: 30/50-amp electrical sleeve, hose bib line, sewer cleanout access

Sizing by Rig

Travel trailer, 20-28 ft — 12x30 ft pad. Leaves room to walk the awning side.

Fifth wheel, 30-38 ft — 12x40 to 14x45 ft, plus truck length if you park hitched.

Class A motorhome, 34-45 ft — 14x50 ft, 8" thick under the jack footprint.

Boat on a trailer — 10x28 ft usually covers it, and it's the one case where a 5" pour is genuinely enough.

The rule we give people: measure your rig, add 4 feet of length and 2 feet of width. Nobody has ever told us their pad was too big.

Ranges reflect what we actually quote in West Jordan and the surrounding valley in 2026. Site access, tear-out, and base condition move the number more than anything else — which is why every estimate is written after Bryan walks the property, not over the phone.

RV Pads FAQ

Salt Lake Valley cities generally allow RV parking on a private lot with rules about setback from the property line, surfacing (many require a hard, dust-free surface — which is exactly what a concrete pad provides), and screening from the street. HOA CC&Rs are usually stricter than the city and are the more common constraint. Check your CC&Rs before you plan the layout; we'll help you site the pad to fit them.
You can, and a lot of people do until the slab tells them not to. A standard 4" driveway wasn't designed for concentrated jack loads, and the failure shows up as punch-through cracking or a depression where the jacks land. If you're parking a rig long-term, a dedicated pad is cheaper than replacing a cracked driveway.
6 inches for most rigs, 8 inches under the jack footprint of a large Class A. The base underneath matters just as much — 6-8 inches of properly compacted road base. Thickness without compaction just gives you a thicker slab to crack.
28 days for full design strength. This is the one slab where we hold the line on that, because the whole point of the pad is concentrated load. Park it early and you can permanently deform the surface at each jack point.
